Northern Pintail x Common Pochard

Many of the ducks at this site have been released for shooting and I gather this was subsequently seen to be bearing a yellow ring like many of those released birds.

For the female below Andy points to the blue substerminal band on the bill and the largely ash grey secondaries being very Pochard like.  The blue sides of the bill are Pintail-like and the bird's structure seems a good match for this hybrid.
